Scott Publishing LLC publishes 817 Biz. This policy describes how we collect, use and disclose personal information through our website, email newsletter and related forms and communications. It covers newsletter subscriptions, advertising inquiries, contact requests, feedback, announcements and press releases.
Information you provide
When you subscribe, we collect your email address and any additional information you choose to provide, such as your name, company or professional role. We may also record signup dates, the source of a subscription and consent or subscription preferences.
When you submit a form or contact us, we collect the information you provide. Depending on the form, this may include your name, email address, phone number, company, job title, advertising interests, campaign timing, budget, comments, announcement text, press release content and uploaded files.
Please provide only information needed for your request. Do not submit payment-card details, passwords, government identification numbers, medical information or other sensitive personal information. If you provide information about another person, make sure you are authorized to do so.

Submitting an advertising inquiry, feedback, an announcement, a press release or a contact request does not by itself subscribe you to the newsletter. Any newsletter signup offered alongside those forms is a separate choice.
Unsubscribing from any 817 Biz newsletter, sponsor message or advertising email removes you from both the newsletter and occasional sponsor or advertising emails. At present, separate subscription preferences are not available. Use the unsubscribe link in any of these messages or contact info@817biz.com. Opting out does not prevent us from responding to an inquiry you initiate. We may retain a limited record of your opt-out to avoid sending unwanted messages.
Website and email usage information

Tell us clearly if an attachment or part of a submission is confidential or subject to an embargo; do not assume that submitting it creates a confidentiality agreement. Published information may remain in archives or third-party copies and may not be fully removable.

We use Beehiiv for newsletter distribution and subscription management. Our website host processes information needed to operate and secure the site. Publitas hosts digital editions of our print publication; visiting its viewer may involve collection under its own privacy policy. We have selected Formspree to process website form submissions and uploaded files and send notifications to our designated recipients once connected.
Authorized employees, editors and contractors may access information needed for their work. We may use other providers for email, storage, security or business administration. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate misuse or complete a business transfer, subject to applicable law.
We do not sell or rent subscribers’ email addresses or form-submitters’ contact details. Advertisers may pay 817 Biz to send sponsor or advertising messages on their behalf. We send these messages through our own newsletter platform as communications from 817 Biz; we do not provide advertisers with our subscriber list or subscribers’ email addresses as part of that service.
Retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including managing active subscriptions, handling inquiries, maintaining editorial and advertising records, honoring opt-outs and meeting legal obligations. Published material may remain in our archives. Provider backups and technical logs may follow separate retention schedules.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
